We recommend testing your spa weekly and more often if the spa is being used regularly or bathing loads are heavier than normal. There are a few different types of Testing systems (click Here for Test Kits) but by far the most used are Test Strips. These are usually a single dip strip system that measures Total Chlorine and or Total Bromine, pH and Total Alkalinity.

The typical strip has 3 or 4 small pads on them that turn a colour that you then compare to the colour on the bottle which then gives you the reading.

Test Strips are reasonably accurate and easy to use. Test Strips must be used by their expiry date and stored in a dry area. If the strips you have 4 tests “ie” measure Total Chlorine and Total Bromine as well as the pH and Total Alkalinity, disregard the chlorine pad if you are using Bromine.
